Items offered at Zine Girls are in Very Good condition or better, unless specified. Some descriptions will feature special condition notes listing specific flaws such as back cover wear, mildew odor, or a small clipped ad. Normally these issues would be discarded, however we will offer rare issues with a detailed description of flaws. Below is a list of common industry terms used by collectors to describe condition of magazines. MINT - Extremely rare, essentially flawless copies with no evidence of ever having been handled or read. This condition is rarely seen, even with brand new magazines on the newsstand. VF/MINT - These terms are grouped together because it is very difficult to tell the difference between Very Fine and Near Mint. Items will be unread, unused, and perhaps unopened. Very difficult to find old paper items in this condition unless they were preserved under glass. Buyers should be leary of any seller who claims to have a Near Mint copy a paper item from the 50's or sooner. FINE - Items will be clean and showing very little damage or flaws, very slight shelf wear. Magazines and paper have been well preserved, which may or may not have been read. All pages, posters, inserts, and calendars present. Non-paper collectibles will be very well cared for, may or may not have been displayed, very slight imperfections if any. VERY GOOD (VG) - Products that are better then average, still in previously used condition. Magazines and paper may have moderate creases on corners, slight spine stress, slight discoloration/rubbing while having all pages present (centerfold may be dettached, but still present). Collectibles may have less severe discoloration, fading, slight chips, dust, and flaws.
GOOD - An item with moderate to significant wear. For a magazine and paper goods this could mean several spots of very noticable spine stress, discoloration/rubbing on cover, significant creases, slight staple rust, loosened pages, or slight age odor while still having all pages present (centerfold may be dettached, but still present). Collectibles such as dolls, toys, and non-paper items in Good condition may have discoloration, fading, slight chips, significant dust, paint scratches, torn stitching, or general aging.
Important Notes! Please bare in mind that grading of collectibles is a subjective system. Opinions, personal preferences, and discretion greatly influence this process. We at ZineGirls.com draw upon 20 years of experience in grading magazines and collectibles. We do our best to provide the finest items available graded as honetsly as possible.
Buyers need to use common sense when purchasing collectibles. Shelf wear and age damage IS TO BE EXPECTED with paper items. It is inevitable! Of course the degree of ware appears in different forms for different items.
